3D Stereo Media festival in Belgium

October 25th, 2010 by volker

If you get your act together you could submit your short film to this festival.

http://www.3dmedia2010.com

Deadline 31st of october, submission is free and they do have a category called “alternative content”. Only problem is they expect the submission in the so called Digital Cinema Package format (DCP). To create such a 3D DCP you need specialised tools or the festival does it for you (cost involved).

There are free tools available though:

Open Cinema Tools on Google Code (Win only)
easyDCP Creator from Frauenhofer Institute

Web-Based HTML5/WebGL Stereoscopic 3D System

October 25th, 2010 by volker

General 3D announced a web-based 3D stereoscopic system to stream 3D stereoscopic videos using only a browser. This new system uses the HTML5 and WebGL standards being built into Mozilla FireFox, Google Chrome and Apple Safari (you need to use the latest beat versions for WebGL).

Great technology, being able to play HD stereoscopic movies in your browser with on the fly image processing dome in the GPU.
